Mother Dezimore "Toot" Ruffin Barnes, 85, of 5209 Sharon Acres Road, Elm City, softly and tenderly answered the Master's call on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

A service of love and remembrance will take place on Sat., Nov 2, 2013, 2pm at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Lane St Ext, Wilson. Bishop Henry L. Cox will officiate. She will be laid to rest in her earthly bed of slumber at Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane St. Ext.

Public viewing for Mother Barnes will take place on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 from 12-8:30 at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St SW, Wilson, with the family present later in the evening to receive friends from 7:15-8:15pm.

Mother Barnes was united in marriage to the late Fletcher Lee Barnes, Sr and from that union 15 children were born. She was preceded in death by four children; Ray Charles Barnes, Diane Brown, Fletcher Lee Barnes, Jr., and Eddie Lee Barnes.

Dezimore worked as a cook at Wilson Medical Center until her retirement. She was a faithful and devoted member and Mother at Holy Temple Apostolic Holiness Church.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children; Minnie Bynum, Sarah Lee Cooper, Shirley Ann Barnes, Chester Lee Barnes (Mary), Jimmie Dee Barnes (Patricia), Archie Lee Barnes (Grace), George Barnes (Sharon), Herbert Lee Barnes (JoAnn) and David Lee Barnes all of Wilson; Kenneth Lee Barnes (Renee) of Raleigh; and Danny Ray Barnes of Maryland; one sister Daiselle Ruffin Artis; daughter-in-law Hazel Marie Barnes; sisters-in-law, Jessie Ward, Susie Barnes and Devora Ruffin all of Wilson and Carrie Bell Mumford of Baltimore; 52 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, a host of neices, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends at the residence, where they will also assemble one hour prior to the service in preparation for the funeral procession.
